The Lynn Brown Charity Netball Tournament started with a warm up hosted by Kelly and Jenny from ECN Bodyworks. 24 teams then battled it out for the Cup, Plate and Rose trophies raising money for local Enhanced Dementia Care Charity, part of the Blue Skies Hospital fund. The weather helped immensely and some great netball played. Teams from Blackpool, Salford, and Leyland competed to determine the day's champions!
The Cup competition saw a final between BNC Orange and BNC Blue, two club teams and Orange reigned victorious 17 - 0 to lift the cup as champions.
The Plate was so well fought that it went to 2 periods of extra time with Albion Ladies and Lewis Motors Turbos battling hard to snatch the Plate winners title. With a final moments awesome goal scored by Claire Upton Turbos were the winners beating Albion 10 - 9.
The Rose Bowl was another great watch with Dolly Mixtures taking on BNC White and after 14 minutes of fabulous netball Dolly Mixtures took the Rose Bowl title 14 - 7!
Throughout the day a Shoot Out Competition was played and Holly Landless of BNC won with a HUGE score of 33 goals in one minute - pipping Rhiann Shaw by just one point to win VIP tickets for the Thunder v Jets netball Superleague game on 18th April.
The Fylde Netball League are hosting another charity tournament in September and would welcome raffle prizes from local businesses to support this, the chosen charity is SANDS (Stillbirth and Neonatal Death), another very worthwhile cause!
Many thanks to all those who donated prizes for this tournament - it helped us raise significant funds for Enhanced dementia care, donations were welcomed from The Links Pub, Lee Raj Restaurant, The Dunes Pub, Fleetwood Weatherspoons, Blackpool Football Club and individual raffle prizes were also gratefully received.
All in all a brilliant day raising money for a great charitable cause!
